Answer to Problem:

A handheld locator box capable to finding a lost hearing aid with very little to zero training.

We propose to install a small electronic locator device in hearing aides. This device, when activated, would transmit a beacon that can be located with a handheld unit.

In order to save the hearing aid battery power, the beacon will on begin transmitting after a resonance switch has been thrown, and (optionally) the target id is matched. The target id is used in situations where a hearing aid may be lost in a nursing home with many other hearing aids. Only the numeric code punched into the hand held unit would begin to transmit. Of course, a home use version removes the need for a code to be entered. It is shown on the right below.

The operation is simple. Begin by typing in the four digit code (1000 combinations). The locator unit automatically turns on by entering the code. Press Start. The green light will illumate if the hearing aid is withing about 100 feet. At this point the bar graph in the left side of the locator will begin the light from the bottom. When the lights are at the top, you are within about half an inch of the lost hearing aid.
